The immediate loading concepts have been used in clinical practice for more than 20 years. Dr. Romanos is well known in the literature for his clinical and scientific experience on immediate loading of dental implants in health and disease. The participants will be trained in all the different concepts of immediate loading in single, partially edentulous patients and patients with full-arch restorations. In addition the immediate implants and loading will be extensively discussed in the course as well.

Special attention will be provided for management on loaded bone, the impact of occlusal forces on the grafted bone, the bone grafting materials and the simultaneous bone augmentations with implant placement and loading. To secure the long term success, data from clinical studies will be presented and management of possible complications will be described.

  • To learn the basic wound healing principles of immediate loading of dental implants;
  • To train the participants to understand the foundation for the clinical success;
  • To demonstrate step-by-step clinical cases and studies following this protocol;
  • To explain all open questions for the private practice;
  • To describe postoperative care and also possible complications;
  • To follow up protocols of management of complications.

Day 1 – Theory, cases discussions & Q&A 

  • Biology and Requirements for the long-term success;
  • The Role of the implant macrodesign;
  • Experience from Animal Research Clinical Indications (Fully edentulous and partially edentulous patients);
  • Immediate Implants and Immediate Loading;
  • Immediate Loading and Bone Grafting;
  • Immediate Loading in Compromised Bone Qualities;
  • Immediate Loading and Removable Restorations;
  • Complications and Management of Immediate Loading Concepts
Day 2 – Full day hands-on
 
  • Flap Design in Implant dentistry (full and partial thickness flap in pig jaw);
  • Implant Placement to improve primary stability (in soft and dense artificial bone blocks);
  • Torque Evaluation (with the drilling machine);
  • Evaluation of Primary Stability (Periotest – Osstell);
  • Implants will be placed in artificial bone and the participants will be trained how to improve implant stability.
EVENT SPEAKER

Dr. Romanos is a Professor of Periodontology and Director of Laser Education at Stony Brook University (SBU), School of Dental Medicine (SDM). He also holds the title of Professor (Prof. Dr. med. dent.) of Oral Surgery/Implant Dentistry in Frankfurt, Germany. Previously, he served as the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Stony Brook University. Dr. Romanos has comprehensive training in Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Oral Surgery - in Germany and the USA. Moreover, he is Board Certified in Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry in Germany.
