Prof. Anton Sculean
Prof. Anton Sculean, currently the Executive Director of the School of Dental Medicine and Chairman of the Department of Periodontology at the University of Bern, Switzerland, is a distinguished figure in dentistry.
Graduating from Semmelweis University in 1990, he pursued postgraduate training in Germany and Denmark, earning his Ph.D. from the University of Saarland. Recognized for his contributions, his accolades include the Anthony Rizzo Young Investigator Award and the IADR/PRG Award in Regenerative Periodontal Medicine. He holds honorary doctorates from Semmelweis University and Victor Babes University.
With over 300 articles, 30 book chapters, and 450+ global lectures, Prof. Sculean’s research interests encompass periodontal wound healing, regenerative and plastic-aesthetic periodontal therapy, and innovative approaches in treating periodontal and peri-implant infections, utilizing antibiotics, antiseptics, lasers, and photodynamic therapy.
