Localized vertical ridge augmentation using GBR has been proven to be a predictable technique in long-term studies with over 30 years of follow-up. The use of titanium-reinforced PTFE membranes, combined with autologous particulate bone grafts and deproteinized bovine bone, is the most documented method. However, this approach is technique-sensitive and available only for experienced surgeons.

New devices have simplified surgical techniques, such as customized semi-permeable titanium meshes that can be pre-fabricated from a three-dimensional CBCT scan and fixed with only a few mini-screws. Both traditional and modern techniques will be presented and compared through histological analyses, equipping participants with the knowledge to make informed decisions in their clinical practice.
