Dr. Kumar is an internationally recognized periodontist and microbiome researcher.
She earned her dental degree and MS in Periodontology in India, then completed a certificate in Periodontology and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology at The Ohio State University.
Her NIH-funded Oral Microbial Ecology Laboratory focuses on how the oral microbiome links oral and systemic health. She has authored 100+ papers and serves on the editorial boards of multiple leading periodontal journals.
