Prof. Andreas Stavropoulos studied dental technology and dentistry, followed by postgraduate training in periodontology and implant dentistry, both in Denmark. He earned his Ph.D. and Dr. Odont. degree based on studies of guided-tissue regeneration and bone-substitute materials for treating advanced periodontal defects, often in combination with implants.
In 2013, he became Professor and Chair in the Department of Periodontology at Malmö University, Sweden. Later, he served as Professor Ordinarius and Director of the Division of Regenerative Dentistry and Periodontology at the University Clinics of Dental Medicine (CUMD), University of Geneva, Switzerland, from 2020 to 2021.
Prof. Stavropoulos has received numerous awards for his research, including the 1st Basic Research Prize from the European Association of Osseointegration (2011) and the Straumann Award in Regenerative Periodontal Medicine from the IADR (2013).
