Implants are the “gold standard” in modern dentistry. They can be used to provide dentures that are almost as comfortable as teeth. Even if modern materials allow us to use smaller diameter and shorter implants, it is necessary in a large number of cases to carry out hard and soft tissue augmentations in order to be able to place implants safely and also to be able to prevent aesthetic complications in the future.
Not only a large number of well-studied techniques but also a large number of materials are available for this purpose. But not all materials are the same and often the result can be significantly improved by an optimized material mix – with almost the same surgical technique. The advantages are apparent. On the one hand, the direct surgical results are improved, on the other hand, it has an impact on the long-term success and survival rate of the implants.
